How did you get involved with anti-war activism and World BEYOND War (WBW)?
I started participating in issues of nuclear disarmament in high school, now three years ago, when I joined my local World BEYOND War chapter. With the active mentorship and encouragement from my colleagues and fellow activists, with many more years of experience in this kind of activism, I developed a passion for disarmament, demilitarization, and peace.
What kinds of volunteer activities do you help with?
I’ve been involved in World BEYOND War’s social media team in the past and now am helping organize and revitalize the Victoria World BEYOND War chapter.
What’s your top recommendation for someone who wants to get involved with WBW?
Find a chapter near you and reach out! If you don’t have one near you, take a WBW course or even start your own chapter! Use WBW’s website to search out information and updated ways you can get involved — there are always events (now online!) going on that you can join and be a part of.
What keeps you inspired to advocate for change?
The interconnected ways war affects nearly all parts of social justice. Realizing the intersections between feminism, environmentalism, poverty, and war re-establishes the necessity to address the rampant militarization today and focus on achieving all facets of disarmament.
How has the coronavirus pandemic impacted your activism?
In some ways Covid has made it easier to be an activist! With everything online, it’s easier than ever to connect with activists all over the world.
