On Monday, June 15th 2015, a group of Left MP´s from the Deutscher Bundestag (German Parliament), supported by local peace activists, will try to gain entrance to the US Air Force Base in Ramstein in order to fulfill their parliamentary responsibilities and to make their own evaluation of the operations on the US Air Force Base.
The action will focus on the use of killer-drones. Located on Ramstein Air Force Base is the central relay station that connects US drone pilots in Nevada with drones in targetted areas such as Pakistan or Yemen. According to Sahra Wagenknecht, Vice President of the Left Party group in the German Parliament: “The murders by US drones are contrary to international law and infringe upon right to life that is guaranteed under human rights law. The thousands of killings via drones are like the enforcement of thousands of death sentences without a court order.”
The Left Party seeks to ensure that there will be no more wars from German soil. Alexander Ulrich, MP from Kaiserslautern stated: “We call for the closing of the Air Base and its conversion to civilian use. The infrastructure could be sensibly used for peaceful purposes, and jobs in the region would thus be safeguarded.”

Please note: The action will take place on June 15th 2015 at 12 noon ca. 100 meters from the West Gate entry to the Ramstein Air Force Base. A group of about ten MPs of the Left Party will participate, including Vice President Sahra Wagenknecht, the Foreign Policy Speakers Sevim Dagdelen and Niema Movassat, and the Left MPs from the region of Rhineland-Palatinate, Alexander Ulrich and Katrin Werner.
Terminhinweis: Linke MdB protestieren am 15. Juni in Ramstein
Am Montag, den 15. Juni 2015 wird eine Gruppe von linken Abgeordneten des Deutschen Bundestags, unterstützt von Aktivistinnen und Aktivisten der lokalen Friedensbewegung, versuchen, Zugang zur US Air Base Ramstein zu erhalten, um ihrer Verantwortung als Parlamentarier nachzukommen und sich einen eigenen Eindruck von den Vorgängen in der US Air Base zu machen.
Die Aktion richtet sich vor allem gegen den Einsatz von Killerdrohnen. Auf der Air Base befindet sich die zentrale Relaisstation, die die US-Drohnenpiloten in Nevada mit den Drohnen in den Einsatzgebieten in Pakistan oder Jemen verbindet. Sahra Wagenknecht, Erste stellvertretende Vorsitzende der Fraktion DIE LINKE im Bundestag: „Die völkerrechtswidrigen Morde durch US-Drohnen verletzen das Menschenrecht auf Leben. Die tausendfache Tötung durch Killerdrohnen kommt der Verhängung der Todesstrafe ohne Richterbeschluss gleich.“
DIE LINKE tritt dafür ein, dass es keine Kriege mehr von deutschem Boden aus gibt. Alexander Ulrich, MdB aus Kaiserslautern: „Wir fordern eine Schließung der Air Base und eine Konversion zur zivilen Nutzung. So könnten die Infrastruktur sinnvoll und friedlich genutzt und Arbeitsplätze in der Region gesichert werden.“
Hinweis: Die Aktion findet am 15. Juni 2015 um 12 Uhr ca. 100 m vor dem Westgate zur Air Base Ramstein statt. Beteiligen wird sich u.a. eine Gruppe von rund zehn Mitgliedern der Bundestagsfraktion DIE LINKE. U.a. werden die Erste stellvertretende Vorsitzende, Sahra Wagenknecht, die Außenpolitiker Sevim Dagdelen und Niema Movassat, sowie die rheinland-pfälzischen Abgeordneten Alexander Ulrich und Kathrin Werner vor Ort sein.
